15 minutes to evacuate…

4273011106_0b9d638e3a_large I caught a bit of a movie today where the family had to quickly evacuate their home because of some catastrophic disaster or aliens or something. I didn’t pay much attention to it because I was looking for Wife Swap a documentary about poster printing that was meant to be on.

But the couple of seconds I was exposed to it got me thinking about what things I would grab but not including people or pets…because you would of course make sure they were safe…even if you just had a huge fight with your husband and you just told him he could drop dead and……

ah yeah, so where was I?  If I had 15 minutes to evacuate, and I could only grab 10 things (because I could unrealistically think that I could empty out the entire house and pack it into our Starwagon….but that’s just silly…..), I would grab:

  1. My handbag – assuming that my purse, diary, keys and mobile phone was in it already.
  2. The box of discs with our photos on them – photos can always be reprinted.
  3. The emergency file folder – that contains birth certificates, wedding certificate and other important papers.
  4. My laptop – all my work is on there.
  5. My camera – because I love my camera.
  6. As much of Bill’s military collection as I could carry – because he loves that collection and if we got stuck for money, we could always sell some of it. Although he’d rather starve than sell his collection!
  7. Annabelle’s favourite teddy – because we ALL would suffer if she didn’t have it!
  8. My perfume – you know how much that stuff cost me?!
  9. Clothes for the kids – as much as I can grab!
  10. the Zingo game – it’s the one thing that all the kids enjoy playing together!

If you had 15 minutes to evacuate your home, what 10 things would you grab (not including people or pets)?

he he, I could grab the home (with everything in it, attach it) to the small truck (after bundling the man and dog in it), then run. Advantages in being a gray nomad :-) . You go 400 kilometers, north or south according to the conditions. LOVE the life :-) .
