Greasy stains on tea towels

While folding up the clean laundry, I’ve noticed that some of the tea towels had some yucky, greasy food stains on them that hadn’t come out in the wash. I read somewhere to remove stains, you can soak the tea towels in a bucket of warm water and a dash of Cloudy Ammonia overnight.

Cloudy Ammonia is a degreaser and it just eats away at the stains.

I was worried about the smell of it. I HATE the smell of Cloudy Ammonia. Even the slightest amount makes me feel sick. But after letting the tea towels soak overnight and then wash them on their own in the washing machine, the smell went away and the result was very much noticeable.

Is cloudy ammonia bleach? (Would it only work on total white? Or stip the colour out of everything else?)

It's not bleach. I used it on our coloured tea towels and it didn't affect the colours.

We wash the tea towels from my brothers cafe & they are VERY greasy. We simply soak them in nappysan overnight & they come up well.
