Ford Mondeo Review – It’s so…gadgety!

by ~Tina on September 10, 2010

So we’ve had the Ford Mondeo for just over a week now and I’m still getting used to all the fancy little gadgets and features.

The first time I drove at night, I was a little freaked out because I thought I saw the headlines moving….like eyes. I’d convinced myself that I was seeing things until I read in the Ford manual and learned that the Mondeo has an Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) which basically means that it improves visibility and reduces the headlamp glare for cars coming towards me at night. There are even little cornering lights that light up the corner when you are turning.

I had to laugh when the husband told me about the conversation he had with the service station attendant. The attendant was practically drooling over the Ford and asking heaps of questions about it. The Ford Mondeo is definitely catches peoples’ eyes!

I’m loving the autolamp feature. By setting the headlights on auto, it means that the lights will turn on automatically when needed and off when no longer needed. Awesome for people like me who have ended up with a flat battery because I have forgotten to turn the headlights off!

I was ready to dim the rear-vision mirror when I saw a truck coming up behind me on the freeway when the mirror dimmed itself! THAT is an awesome little feature.  I like that it doesn’t dim when I’m reversing though so I have a clear vision of what’s going on behind me.

I’m liking the sensory windscreen wipers as well. I can set them to auto and the wipers will turn on if it starts to rain and go faster or slower depending on the rain.

With all the rain we’ve had in the last few days, we need to give the beast a wash. Can’t have him looking anything but pristine!

Thanks to Kidspot, I have been chosen as one of the Modern Mondeo Mamas ! I get to drive this baby for 3 weeks and share what I think of it. *squeal*

I like the idea of adaptive lights on those big cars. I hate the reflection of their lights in my rearview mirror. It really puts me off and and night blinds me a little .

I love the idea of the headlights turning themselves off when they are not needed. I've ended up with flat batteries often enough to now leave a set of jumper leads in the boot.
