Ford Mondeo Review – Your voice controls everything anyway, babe.

by ~Tina on September 13, 2010

The first long decent drive in the Ford Mondeo was down to Canberra yesterday. We already had just under half a tank of fuel and to fill it up cost me $60 so I’m assuming it costs about $80 to fill the tank up.

We always drive up Macquarie Pass when we head to Canberra so I was interested in how the Mondeo was going to handle going up the mountain with hairpin bends and tight corners. I knew I didn’t have to worry because the Mondeo took it in it’s stride and hugged the road all the way up. I loved that, on the overtaking lanes, I was the one overtaking and not being overtaken!

The cruise control is a very handy feature when travelling long distance. It’s easy to set up. I set the max speed to 110km and I didn’t have to worry about going over the speed limit.

I was so proud of myself because I finally worked out how to use the voice control before we left. As long as the kids weren’t making too much noise, I was able to make a call and change the CD track with ease. The husband thought he was so funny by stating that my voice controls everything anyway *rolling eyes*

I’m loving the driver and passenger climate controls. I prefer cool air blowing at me while the hubs prefers it a little warmer so we were able to set the air con to our own preferences.

I think the only thing that felt a bit strange to me was being low, compared to the van that I usually drive. It was a little strange having a 4 wheel drive in front of me and not being able to see up ahead like I can in the van.

I love how spacious the back seats are. We only have one car seat in the back for Annabelle and Giorgia had plenty of room on her side. Oh and I added the photo of the hubs to show that I DID let him drive ;)

I don’t know much about fuel efficiency but I can tell you that it only took under half a tank of fuel to get from Wollongong to Canberra and back again.

We’re having so much fun driving around in the Mondeo. It’s going to be hard to give it back!!

Thanks to Kidspot, I have been chosen as one of the Modern Mondeo Mamas ! I get to drive this baby for 3 weeks and share what I think of it. *squeal*

"your voice controls everything anyway" haha, I would've added "and don't YOU forget it!"

Isn't great to be able to overtake cars! I used to have a corona with a top speed of 100, and thats down hill. When I finally got a real car it was like Hello! aaand Goodbye, never having a rust busket again!

Being confident in overtaking is great!

Looks great. I don't know much about fuel efficiency either, but half a tank from Wollongong – Canberra and back seems pretty good to me.

Being up high is something I am really loving about our new (used) MPV. Don't think I could go back to a low car now – at least not until I don't have to get kids in and out.
