My Uncle used to go hunting.
I remember one day when he came home with something inside a pillow case. It was a baby kangaroo that was orphaned because a hunter had shot his mother. So my grandmother took it upon herself to raise the little joey until it got too much to care for and made arrangements for it to be released.
But before it did, one of my school friend’s dad, who used to work for the local newspaper, learned that we had a kangaroo as a pet and thought it would make a good story…

My aunt lived on a farm & had twin kangaroos for a while, their mum was hit by a car on the main road past the farm. My dad also knew someone with a wombat, same story he hit the mum in the car & saved the baby (joey?), he had to get rid of it when it got big & started smashing through walls LOL!

A friend of my Dad had a pet kangaroo. We didn't have anything quite as good as that but as a kid I had a pet bantam who used to love sitting on my shoulder. We also had a pet ferret. Although I do recall not liking it that much.

when i was little we lived on a farm, so we had a few Different pets, mostly from hunters or cars killing the parent/s my favorite was a baby wombat, who we named Wally.
We also had a baby ring tail possum i forget what we named it but i do remembering it being so cute!

How cool is that?! I really have never owned a strange pet, but I have kept a cat a secret when I lived for a year on an on-campus dorm/apartment.

We had a pet Dingo..his name was Basil. He was the most loyal pet i have ever known and was great with kids. He used to drag my neighbour and i around the yard on a hessian sack…was so funny. I had a pet lamb named Matilda, she was very loving and cute, and she used to lay on her back and play dead lol.
