So, remember this post where I got you all to spam comment on Ryan Kelly’s Facebook page and Twitter account demanding encouraging him to tweet me back and I would plug his CD?
And you were all like “Who the hell is Ryan Kelly?!” and I was all like “He’s only the man with the gorgeous voice from Celtic Thunder and has just released his debut album, In Time!” and you were all like “What the hell is Celtic Thunder?!” Remember now?
Well he never replied.
But then Celtic Thunder came to Australia for their promo tour and because I didn’t go up to Sydney to stalk meet them, Tiesha and I plotted that she would try and get Ryan to have a photo taken holding one of my business cards.
Uh huh. That, my friends, is one of my business cards in Ryan Kelly’s hand. Oh, and THAT is my darling daughter, and accomplice, with the man. Gorgeous! Oh, and Tiesha is too
So you might be wondering why I am plugging Mr Ryan Kelly (for free!) on Tina Gray {dot} Me if he didn’t reply to my tweet. Because, you know, Tina Gray {dot} Me is considered valuable real estate *snort*
Yes, while it’s true that he didn’t reply to THAT particular tweet, he did respond to a question I asked him the other day while he was so generously holding a Q&A on Twitter…
So, in holding my end of the bargain that he probably didn’t even realise he had made with me, but I will fulfil anyway because that’s how I roll, I encourage you, my awesome readers, to head over and have a listen to a sample of some of his tracks. He’s kinda folky pop, with a sexy, raspy voice and his songs are filled with emotion. My favourites are “Not Far Apart”, “Make You Proud” and “Secret Bit of Right From Wrong”.

Now, if he happens to leave a comment on this blog post, I might consider offering him some above the fold advertising at a discounted rate. Pfft. These celebrities. Thinking they can get free advertising. Hehe.

Over to you: If folky poppy music isn’t your flavour, let me know what and who you listen to.

I listen to absolutely every type of music. Depends what mood I am in. I have certain songs to calm me down, others to motivate me to do the housework and some I listen to just for fun. Love this post and how you are having fun on your blog. Naomi x
Thanks, Naomi
Yes, I have my favourite "housework songs" too.
I listen to a wide variety of music…but not much past about 1996. I like (this will make me a dag for life) Peter, Paul and MAry, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, The Seekers, Beatles, Rolling Stones, New Kids on the Block, The music from Glee, Bon Jovi, Gunners, ABBA, Adam Ant, Blondie, almost anything 80s, Jefferson airplane/starhsip, Aerosmtih, Gene Pitney, Elvis, Cliff Richard….need I go on (I can)
I love all the ones you mentioned but New Kids on the Block? Really, Jenn?!
I listen to all sorts, depending on my mood. I've been listening to a lot of Amanada Palmer lately, before that it was Laura Marling and Lincoln LeFevre. Generally I just grab all the music I like, and pop it into iTunes and shuffle through it. I think there's nearly 1000 songs in my library now and that's only because I did a huge Foo Fighter cull. I guess that's the problem with sharing the music library with someone else. Heh.
I refuse to share my music library with anyone. All the songs in mine are there because I like them. I can also lay no blame on anyone else because George Michael is in there
Let's hope he takes you up on the offer of ad space!
As for me, at the moment I am listening to (in no particular order): John Butler Trio, Blink 182, Green Day, Clapton/Cream, Sea Sick Steve, Cake, Kate Rusby, Iron and Wine and The Waifs.
… so I guess there is some poppy folk in there ….as well as blues, punk and classic rock.
I haven't heard of some of those. Going to look them up
I wouldn't say I'm a big music fanatic. I like a little bit of most genres. At the moment I'm loving Bruno Mars as his songs remind me of my pregnancy. Before having my bub I would always just listen to the latest music, usually on Fox FM driving to and from work. Now that I'm on maternity leave I'm not in the car as much and have found I've lost touch with the music scene and whenever I put Fox FM on it just sounds like noise!
I'm more of a Mix FM gal now, does this mean I'm getting old? Lol! I like songs I can sing to, especially with the baby in the car, I'm sure she loves hearing me sing!
Songs you can sing to, that's what I like too
I think the theme of his first video should be "Ryan gets folksy with blogger Tina Gray". Seriously.
He's hot.
Heh. I like your suggestion. And I agree that he is hot
Having been a music journo for most of my career, I've kinda learnt to love a wide variety. My fave though will always be The Waifs.
Mind you, I haven't exactly had much of a chance to listen to anything other than The Wiggles, Dorothy, The Fairies, Hi-5, Justine Clarke and PlaySchool lately. *sigh*
Funnily enough Annabelle is as much a Celtic Thunder fan as I am so quite often it is HER that is putting on the CD. Hehe.
Hey Tina…I love your enthusiasm! At the moment, I cannot get enough of Bruno Mars!! His "Doo-wops and Holligans" cd is absolutely brilliant…a mix of ballads, pop and rockier tunes…and he's a cutie patootie to boot!!
To be honest, I haven't really listened to Bruno Mars. Need to fix this now!
Hmm..ok…folksy music really isn't my thing. I'm the typical pop bop kinda girl with a mix of rock, '90s alternative – yes very commercial radio for me. Although I do enjoy the odd Beatles hits, Queen and anything from the '80s and '90s.
80s music rocks!
Oh, I like this! "The Moy" is fabulous. Takes me back about 20 years to a pub in Donegal, falling asleep to an impromptu céilí in the bar below. One of those perfect memories. If you like him, try listening to a bit of Mary Black as well. Heard her on St. Pat's Day. She's still got a great voice! My favourite album is "Before It Gets Dark".
"The Moy" is a great song! And what a great memory for you
I will definitely check out Mary Black.
I have a wide variety of music that I love from like the sappiest love songs to death metal music, depending on my mood. But I would very much choose a bit of Celtic Thunder music over any of it.
That is because Celtic Thunder is just awesome.
Well I went over and had a listen and he does have a nice voice.
I have 16,000 songs on my ipod. Granted I have songs like Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at night" abut 5 times because of the compilations I own. I think I've got about 600 CD's.
I am nothing without my music.
Love & stuff
Mrs M
Aww, I love "sunglasses at night" lol 16,000 songs?! I have no idea how many I have but I know it's nowhere near that many!
I'm really enjoying Daft Punk after watching Tron:Legacy
I haven't heard Daft Punk in years!
abso-bloody-brilliant go you!!!
i like most types of music EXCEPT country and techno stuff.
~x~
yeah, I don't like techno stuff either.
I saw an ad for these guys the other day and went 'Oh, that's who Tina was talking about'!
At the moment I'm enjoying Art v Science and that new Beastie Boys single (and I'm not a huge fan of them); I put it down to the exercise kick I'm on.
I haven't heard the new Beastie Boys single yet. I've been seeing lots of ads for Celtic Thunder lately. Love it!
