There’s something you don’t know about me.

by ~Tina on May 29, 2011

I don’t often admit this.

Because, let’s face it, it’s not something you want everyone knowing. But if you have been reading this blog for a while, you know I’m all about keeping it real.

I asked Bill if he thought it was a good idea for me to be putting this on my blog. Because the internet is forever. But he supports me and understands that I need to do this.

So, I have decided to come clean.

I. am. a murderer.

The first time was an accident. I swear.

But the second time…third time….well, the other times, I kinda knew it was going to happen but I did nothing to stop myself.

There was a niggling little voice in my head each time, telling me that what I was doing was wrong. And to stop. Get some help.

People trusted me. People closest to me have no idea that I keep this horrid secret.

Now I’m not one of these murderers that take photos of their victims. But if I did, they would have been something like these unfortunate souls…

Yes, my friends, I am a killer.

Don’t ever ask me to water your plants when you go away on holidays.

You and I would be on the most wanted list at the plant nursery. I have attempted to grow basil and other things that many times (because I hate the thought of buying a bunch of it, using half and throwing away the rest) only to have the plants end up like your victims above.

OMG me too!

I actually thought that I shouldn't have kids due to my amazing powers of plant murder but my cat seems fine so I figured if it moved it would live.

This has extended to the plants outside. I don't know how but 3 out of about 15 flax bushes have died. Obviously I am the prime suspect. This is why there are no plants in my house. Even the living basil died after only one batch of pesto.

It feels great to know I am not the only one.

Oh Tina! You are far too funny for a Sunday morning! I'll let you in on a secret too… I am a bad plant person too. I try, but I just can't. x

Tina, I am still racked with guilt over my killing spree 5 years ago my victims were not plants it is much worse than that. My poor innocent defenceless victims were hermit crabs, I had them as class pets when I taught kindergarten. We had three and they all went within a few days of each other, one under the cupboard never to be seen again, another stepped on and the last must have just been grief stricken. To this day I still feel awful about it. x

I also have a knack for killing plants are are supposed to be very hardy.

Julia-Kuku Couture Invitations – we've had our crazy crabs for a year now and they are still going strong.

ya dag! lol. I keep trying. I sometimes get it right. But mostly not.

Lishylicious May 29, 2011 at 9:51 pm

I am the same. Do you think we need therapy?

river May 29, 2011 at 11:08 pm

Over watering. It's a common mistake. Try just checking the plants, if the leaves are just beginning to wilt, then water. If not stick your fingers in the soil, if you get past a couple of inches without feeling damp, then water.

You're such a tease – last night on twitter, lol. I have killed more plants than I care to count. It is just 'known' that as much as I LOVE them, don' t let them anywhere near me.

Wow! me too..all the money I spend on plants and the sellers always fail to tell me the plants age, but I must have a thing for old plants, they never live very long when I get them home..I should stick to buying clothes to hang in the coffin wardrobe with all the other clothes that never get to go out anywhere.

My daughter brought home carrot seeds in a pot from pre-school last week and the teacher told me not to worry they are hard to kill. I just laughed because I knew. I was told the same thing with a plant I was given by my work friends when I got engaged. I killed that one, just like I think I have already with the carrots!!

Funny post

I am a serial murderer – plants and I simply don't mix and my poor darling daughters both gave me plants for Mother's Day this year. Ellie keeps telling me "The flowers aren't happy." I don't know how to tell her that Mumma can't keep a plant alive!

Penny May 30, 2011 at 8:22 am

BAHAHAHA love it! We really are sisters – not just by blood but by our crime ;) lol

RIP all my poor plants!

Dorothy May 30, 2011 at 8:48 pm

LOL! I used to have a pretty good record with plants, but since having kids, my attention gets somewhat diverted and the occasional victim needs to be buried in the garden. Some of the garden varieties die too. I blame those on the draught, or too much rain, or insects, or….

Cathy June 1, 2011 at 2:37 am

lmao i think we are scarily alike! I kill the unkillable plants!! I have a black thumb :)

Brenda June 21, 2011 at 9:41 pm
