Can you tell that I’m not impressed with having to go back to driving the Starwagon? Hehe. It’s been so nice driving around in the new Ford Mondeo. It is a BIG change from driving our 15 year old Mitsubishi Starwagon.
And now he needs to leave tomorrow.
The Mondeo quickly became a welcomed member of the Gray family. Asking the kids what they will miss most about the Ford Mondeo, their collective responses were electric windows, being able to plug the ipod in, and driving with the sunroof open.
Bill said the things he will miss the most is the new car smell, the comfort of sitting in a heated car seat (which helped his bad back) and being able to overtake with confidence.
I will miss the parking aid sensors definitely! I don’t know if they can be fitted to any car but it would be worth finding out. I will also miss the whole no key thing – it has been a god-send when I’ve had to get bags out of the car and a sleeping Annabelle!
If we were able to afford to keep the Mondeo, we definitely would. But I don’t think that means much because, if I’m honest, ANY car newer than our van would be nicer to drive.
Bill, the kids and I want to say a HUGE thank you to Ford and Kidspot for giving us the opportunity to test drive the Ford Mondeo. We had an awesome time!!

….for an extra few days.
Yeah, I know. I totally wrote that title to get you to read this blog post.
I spent most of Monday psyching myself up to say goodbye and explaining to Annabelle that, unlike the toys and kitchen appliances that we get to keep after I review about them, I’m not allowed to keep THIS toy.
Then I’m told I can keep the car…but only until Saturday.
But that’s fine with me.
That means I get a few more days of NOT having to get back into my van.
I’ve mentioned that we have Annabelle’s car seat in the back seat. It’s anchored to the back of the back seat and it also have the seat belt around it. But I noticed that the seat belt doesn’t hold it tightly. Even though we pulled the seat belt tight. I didn’t like that while it wasn’t a lot of movement, it did slide a bit on the back seat. And no, we weren’t drive like maniacs around corners! I definitely don’t like that.
But I do like that the Mondeo shows me how far I can go on the fuel that is in the tank. When we first picked the car up, it only had about a quarter of a tank of fuel so I had planned to return it with the same. But now that we have it for a bit longer, I needed to fill it some more to get us through the rest of the week. What I didn’t expect was that it would be difficult to find a diesel fuel pump. I went to the local Shell/Coles Express service station, only to be told that they don’t have a diesel pump for cars.
We were told that the nearest Shell/Coles Express (we had a fuel gift card, otherwise I would have went to a different service station) was in a suburb 10 minutes away so we drove there (Yallah) only to find that the pump was out of service! We eventually found another station where we filled up.
I think I already mentioned about the fuel tank release that just needs to be pushed to open and how there isn’t a fuel cap. I’m loving the no fuel cap because I have been known to forget to replace the cap after I fill up.
Another thing that I like is the solid “thump” that you hear when the doors are shut. It’s almost a reassuring sound that the car is safe. Sounds NOTHING like the rust-buckety sound that my van doors make!
What safety features do you look for in a car?
