The day almost didn’t happen for us. I had already RSVP’d to attend this Sony event where we would get to play with the Sony Vaio Tap 20 and hang out with celebrity chef Ben O’Donoghue (whom I have now met and chatted with twice so we’re like best buds now. Although he might not know it yet).
And then Annabelle and Giorgia come home from school to tell me that there is a movie and popcorn day being held at the same time as this Sony thing.
Annabelle umm’d and ahh’d until she went to bed the night before the event and THEN decided she wanted to come with me to Sydney. That child knows how to hold the ball in her court.
So Tuesday morning looked like this….with an obligatory selfie at the train station and total concentration on the ipod….
Once we hit the city, we jumped in a taxi (on a side note, Annabelle HATED this cab driver’s driving and would not let go of me while in it. He was very heavy footed) and made our way to The Grounds of Alexandria. I didn’t know this place existed! And it’s now on my list of places to visit again.
Annabelle didn’t waste any time with getting on one of the Sony Vaio Tap 20′s and playing with some of the apps that were on it. I had to chuckle at this photo that the official photographer took. He asked Annabelle to point at the screen. Awkward much? Heh.
I didn’t know anything about the Sony Vaio Tap 20 when I arrived. All I knew was that it was like a tablet. But it is SO much more. It’s like they have merged a PC and a tablet together. You can stand the Vaio Tap 20 up, like Annabelle is using it in the photos or fold the stand in and lay it flat on the carpet or coffee table. It runs on Windows 8. You can use it as a touch screen or with a wireless keyboard and mouse. It has a built in web cam too.
It is so much more flexible that a desk top computer. Picture using it to play old-school board games, or drawing pictures, or taking it into the kitchen with your recipes. The uses are endless!
After playing with the Vaio Tap 20, it was time to cook! Ben had the kids making their own hot cakes and add whichever fruits they wanted to. Annabelle chose bananas and strawberries. Her favourite!
We were treated to a lovely lunch and for sweets, Ben cook up his barbequed peaches. Oh. My. Noms. I’m definitely adding that recipe to our Summer entertaining menu.
And as we were saying goodbye, Annabelle asked if she could have a photo with Ben. And I {heart} this photo very much.
Right as I was going to take the photo, Ben asked if he could have one of Annabelle’s chips. She said no and smiled for the camera. Hehe.

I was checking out the Sony Facebook page the other day and there is an app called Summertainment. If you are looking for some fun things to do this Summer, you should check it out. It lists events right across Australia as well as things you can do at home. AND there are fab prizes to be won!

Disclaimer: this is not a sponsored post. I was not paid, nor requested to be paid to write this post. I did however receive a goody bag at the event. My opinion, as always, are 100% honest and my own, except the one where Annabelle told me the best part of the day was not playing with the Vaio, but making the hot cakes instead. Sorry, Sony!
